Dry and cracked hands in summer may be due to ringworm. Ringworm has a high summer prevalence and is caused by infections such as Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton spp., Petromyces spp. or Flocculina epidermidis. Patients can often suffer from skin eruptions and pronounced itching. It may also be eczema of the hands.
