Colonoscopy

  1. Precautions before examination: 1. Fasting after dinner the day before the examination; 3 days before the examination, stop taking iron drugs and start eating a semi-liquid or low residue diet; avoid taking aspirin-like drugs or other anticoagulants (if the patient takes them, stop taking them for at least 7 days before the operation).  2.The doctor decides whether to perform colonoscopy according to the condition, and after assessment, the doctor prescribes an examination application form and makes an appointment at the colonoscopy room, and signs a consent form for invasive examination.  3.Intestinal preparation.
The day before the examination, do not eat after dinner, take 250ml of mannitol by mouth on the day of the examination, drink it within half an hour, drink 500ml of sugar saline by mouth about half an hour later, continue to eat slowly about 1500-2000ml, start to defecate 1-2 hours until the discharge of pale yellow or clear stools without residue, consult the doctor again if you do not defecate or if your bowel preparation is not satisfactory. Colonoscopy is usually performed in the afternoon at work. There are also methods of intestinal preparation such as magnesium sulfate, remember to eat more, clean intestinal preparation, can reduce the examination time, improve image clarity, etc. 4. mannitol is generally only used in the examination, mannitol preparation intestinal contraindication to perform colonoscopy under high-frequency electrotherapy.  Second, after the examination precautions: 1.
After taking biopsy or polypectomy, please rest in bed, do not exercise vigorously for three days, and do not do barium enema examination. After the polypectomy, the doctor will generally fast for 1 day and give intravenous fluids according to your condition. If there is no blood discharge and the condition is satisfactory, you can be discharged from the hospital.
 2. Please send the biopsy specimen to the pathology department together with the pathology sheet.  3.In the initial stage, due to the accumulation of air in the large intestine, you may feel bloated and uncomfortable, but it will gradually disappear after a few hours. If abdominal distension is obvious, you should tell the doctor or nurse, who will deal with it accordingly.  4.If there is persistent abdominal pain or large amount of bleeding in the stool, tell the doctor in time to avoid accidents.
