How to treat diseases with the “combination” of Chinese and Western medicine

Studies have shown that 51% of men and 54% of women with a suspected diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD) have coronary microcirculation disorders and are associated with multiple adverse outcomes. Stress leads to the development of myocardial ischemia by causing microcirculatory disorders mainly through abnormalities in microvascular diastolic function. This can be described as a stress-brain-emotion-heart interaction model. The mechanism involves neuroendocrine, sympathetic activation, increased secretion of inflammatory factors, RAAS activation, and elevated glucocorticoids. The professor pointed out that non-obstructive CAD due to microvascular dysfunction also has myocardial ischemia, but the ischemic features are different from those of obstructive CAD. Non-obstructive CAD is mainly diffuse subendocardial ischemia, with ischemia spreading in a small area. More importantly, non-obstructive CAD is also associated with a very high risk of cardiovascular events. The professor noted that MSIMI can be diagnosed relative to the resting state by meeting the following criteria: (1) presence of ventricular wall motion abnormalities or worsening of ventricular wall motion abnormalities (evaluation of LV wall motion abnormalities is based on the 16-part model recommended by the American Society of Echocardiography); (2) 8% reduction in LVEF; and (3) ECG ST-segment changes (depression or elevation) in 2 or more leads lasting ≥3 consecutive heartbeats. MSIMI treatment, in addition to lifestyle interventions, emphasizes that antidepressant therapy not only significantly improves the mental status and psychological state of patients, but also improves MSIMI in patients with CAD. in addition, there are limited studies on commonly used medications for MSIMI in CAD. Standardized application of β-blockers may be beneficial for the prevention and treatment of MSIMI in CAD patients. Combined Chinese and Western medicine treatment can improve microcirculation and is increasingly being used to treat bicardial disease with good results. The combination of Chinese and Western medicine for MSIMI can be synergistic and reduce adverse effects, according to the professor. conventional medication for CAD + anxiolytic-depressant or Chinese herbal medicine is the common combination of Chinese and Western medicine for MSIMI.
