Growing pain is due to the rapid growth of height of children in the period of growth, so that the muscles and nerves of the calf are strained and produce pain, generally occurring in children aged 5 to 7 years old, often occurring at rest or before going to bed at night, with no pain during activities or play. This is the main difference with the pain caused by disease, the latter is usually worse when living, or even activity is limited, but reduced when resting, and other manifestations such as local redness and swelling may appear. Growing pains are physiological pains, which are temporary and will heal on their own after a period of time and do not require treatment. When it is painful, you can give your child a local massage or let him/her watch TV or play with toys to divert his/her attention, so that he/she will not feel the pain anymore.
