Abstract: A mother brought her 7-year-old boy to the hospital with the main reason being sudden bedwetting after entering a boarding elementary school in September this year, indicating that he could clearly express defecation in the hospital before entering school. After admission, through history questioning and urinalysis analysis, the child was considered to be a child with enuresis caused by maladjustment due to environmental change and mental stress. After 1 month of psychological counseling, the child’s bedwetting was significantly improved.

Treatment Period】1 month of treatment, followed by outpatient visit after 1 month
Results】Improvement of enuresis
I. Initial consultation
One afternoon, the child’s mother brought her 7-year-old boy to the clinic to consult about the problem of enuresis. According to the child’s mother, the child has always been relatively intelligent and has been able to express his desire to defecate very accurately since he was more than 5 years old. Recently, she suddenly started wetting the bed, mainly after she entered a boarding elementary school. In the process of communicating with the child, I found that the child was rather shy and embarrassed whenever she talked about her bedwetting, and she would blush, worried about being criticized or ridiculed, and afraid to talk to her teacher. Afterwards, the child was given a urine test, which was basically normal, and the disease was investigated. The current analysis considered that the child’s maladjustment due to the change of environment had caused the child’s enuresis caused by mental stress.
II. Treatment
We consider that the main treatment should be psychological and behavioral guidance. We should increase the parents’ companionship to the child in the family environment, communicate more with the child, and maintain an optimistic and positive mood; at the same time, we should contact the school and take the initiative to care more for the younger residential students through the teachers, so that the child will not blame the child for bedwetting and take the initiative to help him, so that the child will feel that bedwetting is not a big problem. At the same time, get along harmoniously with other children in the same dormitory, play more games, make more friends, and keep a relaxed and happy mood. Instruct your child not to drink much water before going to bed, keep his mood calm, and urinate once before going to bed to empty his bladder completely.
III. Treatment effect
After one month of psychological counseling, the mother brought her child to the hospital for a follow-up consultation and said that her child’s bedwetting had improved significantly, she had developed good urination habits, and the phenomenon of childhood enuresis had been effectively relieved. He has also adapted well to the school environment, getting along well with teachers and other children, no longer afraid, and has a more cheerful personality than before.
IV. Notes
Urine loss in children is usually a psychological cause, often changing in some life circumstances, and is most often seen in children who have previously mastered urination well and suddenly develop urine loss again. We are glad that this child has basically improved the phenomenon of enuresis through psychotherapy, but we also need to advise the parents to pay attention to the child’s behavior and emotions in daily life, and to guide the child to the right direction when there are bad emotions or abnormal behaviors. We should also pay attention to the improvement of the child’s sleeping environment, avoid the mattress being too soft or too hard, and replace the child’s bedding with the appropriate thickness in a timely manner.
V. Personal insight
It is common for children to have enuresis at a young age, so parents should not be too nervous and analyze the causes carefully.
2. If the symptoms are not relieved, or if it is obvious that the child has more enuresis than children of the same age, it is necessary to go to the hospital to investigate the cause.
3.For children with psychological factors causing enuresis, it is important to keep the child in a relaxed mood and reduce too much attention and blame. Usually, as in the case of the child in this case, the symptoms can be significantly relieved through psychological guidance.
4. Some urination training and urine holding methods can be used simultaneously to strengthen the self-control of the urinary bladder system.
