If the yawning is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain, the cause of the lack of oxygen should be identified and most can be corrected through outdoor activities, fresh air and a happy mood.
If it is indeed caused by pathological factors, it is also up to the doctor to determine what type of cause it is. For example, obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome suggests weight loss, sleeping in the lateral position, smoking and alcohol cessation, ventilator wear, and surgical treatment.
Patients are not advised to take their own medication. If cerebrovascular disease is present, yawning can be reduced by oxygen inhalation or oral medications that promote brain metabolism, such as olanzapine, cytarabine and methylcobalamin, if necessary, to assist in correcting the pathology.
