Is there any harm in taking frequent X-rays?

X-rays have a radiation ionizing effect, but as long as they are within the safe dose range (annual dose equivalent whole body <5 mSv, individual tissues/organ <50 msv) they are not sufficient to cause significant health effects. The average weighted dose received during an adult chest radiograph is 0.09msv, and theoretically an adult can receive approximately 50 chest radiographs a year. Hospitals in general use dr technology, which has a much lower radiation dose than conventional x-ray machines. Therefore, there is no need to be overly concerned or fearful about x-ray examinations.
