Chronic cough should not be ignored

It has been almost three months since we opened the clinic, and we have seen more than 200 children. Among them, the most consulted children are those with recurrent cough. I would like to briefly explain my personal treatment experience here. When the cough lasts for more than 4 weeks, often comes on at night or early in the morning, worsens after exercise or cold air, and there are no clinical signs of infection or prolonged antibiotic treatment is ineffective. It can be classified as a chronic cough. Most children in this group have a history of allergic diseases, as well as a positive family history of allergic diseases. If cough symptoms are repeated and not properly treated, they can eventually cause irreversible damage to the airways. Therefore, parents must pay attention to it. If chronic cough caused by other substantial pathologies is ruled out, active treatment should be taken. Firstly, allergen testing should be performed and allergenic foods should be avoided. Secondly nebulized inhalation of budesonide suspension, usually for not less than 6-8 weeks.
