Limb immobilization in fracture victims without exposed bone ends

Fracture casualties with exposed uncinate ends should be immobilized in different ways depending on the location. First of all, patients with cervical fractures should be immobilized with a cervical brace. When fixing, prevent the head and neck from twisting, lowering and raising the head, and keep the middle position. Secondly, thoracic and lumbar spine fractures should be noted so that the spine is not twisted and bent. Thoracic spine fractures are fixed with a chest belt and lumbar spine fractures are fixed with a lumbar brace. Again, if the fracture is of an extremity, most of them are simply fixed with a long, hard object such as a thin board, a wooden bar, a metal plate, etc. to prevent more serious injuries from occurring. The joints of the extremities must be fixed over the joints and try not to change the state after the fracture as well as the shape of the joint, not to mention correcting the deformity immediately. It should be fixed directly first and wait until the hospital when the doctor will judge the fixation method and the treatment. In patients with pelvic fractures, try to start with the patient lying flat in the supine position. Fixing the upper body to the flat bed at the same time as the lower body can provide temporary immobilization.
