Lobar pneumonia, a form of pneumonia, is an inflammatory disease caused primarily by the inhalation of pathogenic agents and is characterised by diffuse fibrinous exudation in the alveoli. The lesion usually involves all or a large part of the lobe of the lung, hence the name lobar pneumonia.
