What to do if growth hormone pituitary tumor recurs

Recurrence of growth hormone pituitary tumor is recommended to undergo another surgery, after which radiotherapy is required. If a third recurrence occurs again after the second surgery, radiotherapy is recommended immediately after the third surgical resection. If the growth hormone pituitary tumor recurs and is large enough to make surgical removal difficult, radiation therapy may be considered first, followed by surgical removal after the tumor has shrunk. To assess the presence of growth hormone pituitary tumor recurrence at an earlier stage, regular follow-up head MRI and growth hormone levels at one month, three months, six months, one year, and annually thereafter, need to be emphasized for early detection of lesions and early treatment.
