Premature ejaculation is a very common male sexual dysfunction, and epidemiological studies show that the prevalence accounts for 35% to 50% of adult men and 90% of patients with ejaculatory disorders. The causes of premature ejaculation have not yet been fully elucidated, and the traditional view is that premature ejaculation is mostly caused by psychological factors. Studies in recent years have found that premature ejaculation is not only a psychosomatic disease, but also a pathological state in which the latency period of ejaculation is too short. Current studies and treatments suggest that patients with premature ejaculation may have abnormal function of the central 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) system, penile hypersensitivity, and posterior urethral-globocavernosal reflex hyperexcitability in the prostate department. From these understandings, it is seen that increased sensitivity and excitability of organs or tissues are important features of the etiology of premature ejaculation. From the physiology of ejaculation, ejaculation is a physiological process jointly accomplished by multiple organs or tissues. The seminal vesicles, prostate, posterior urethra, bulbocavernosus muscle, and sciatic cavernosus muscle play roles in different parts of ejaculation and are regulated by the nervous system. Any abnormality in these organs or tissues may have an effect on ejaculation. According to the current understanding of Western medicine combined with the traditional theory of Chinese medicine, we believe that the increased sensitivity and excitability of organs or tissues in the cause of premature ejaculation belongs to the category of “wind” in Chinese medicine. In traditional Chinese medicine, the symptoms of abnormal shaking and vibrating off are called “moving wind”, which belongs to the category of internal wind. Increased sensitivity and hyperexcitability of organs or tissues are also abnormal shaking and vibration loss, which is also a manifestation of internal wind, so internal movement of wind energy is an important cause of premature ejaculation. We take quenching the wind and tranquilizing the mind as the treatment principle, together with western medicine antidepressant and anti-anxiety, to improve the excitation threshold of the ejaculatory center, so as to achieve the treatment purpose. The observation results showed that the combined treatment of Chinese and Western medicine for premature ejaculation had a higher overall efficiency and a significantly longer ejaculatory latency.
