Alert to hypertension of adrenal origin – Minimally invasive adrenal surgery

In clinical practice, we often encounter patients with hypertension who have poorly controlled blood pressure or develop hypertension at a younger age, and the cause of their high blood pressure is eventually found to be adrenal gland lesions through testing. The adrenal gland is an important endocrine organ in the human body and is named as such because it is located above the kidneys on both sides. There are three common types of hypertension caused by adrenal tumors: 1, cortisolism (also known as Cushing’s syndrome or Cushing’s syndrome): such patients are centripetal obesity, that is, the trunk is fat and the limbs are thin, the symptoms are more commonly known as “full moon face, buffalo back” and accompanied by hypertension. 2, aldosteronism: this disease is manifested as hypertension, hypokalemia, normal people’s blood potassium value between 3.5 and 5.5, and hypokalemia patients can be as low as 1.0 more. As a result of hypokalemia, patients will experience general weakness and in severe cases, fainting and paralysis. Wang Yaxuan emphasized that the weakness of patients with aldosteronism is cyclical, and that they will collapse in bed when their blood potassium is extremely low, and their weakness will be significantly reduced when their blood potassium is restored. 3, adrenal pheochromocytoma: this kind of adrenal tumor with hypertension as the main symptom, and sweating, panic, dizziness and other manifestations, blood pressure is often higher volatility, ordinary antihypertensive drugs effect is poor. At present, surgery to remove the tumor is the most effective treatment for this type of hypertension, but surgery has certain risks, so adequate preparation is needed before surgery.
