What tests are done for diarrhoea in pregnant women?

If a pregnant woman has frequent diarrhoea that does not resolve, she should consider whether it is a bacterial infection. She should have her stool routinely checked, have a bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test, and other tests including routine blood tests, C-reactive protein, calcitoninogen, blood sedimentation, electrolytes, liver and kidney function tests, Doppler listening to the fetal heart, and ultrasound if necessary.
