How do we find out if a child is nearsighted?

According to the latest data from the National Student Health Survey, the prevalence of myopia among elementary school students in China is 22.78%, which is worthy of our attention. I often see some parents in the clinic, facing the sudden “bad news” that their children have myopia and the degree is not low, the disappointed, self-blaming look always from time to time hit my not very strong nerve, many parents also asked themselves “last semester school checkup is not quite good vision? ” This raises the question of how to find out if our children are nearsighted? Are school tests unreliable? I will answer the above questions with you. If your child has the following phenomena, we suggest you take him/her to the hospital for examination as soon as possible, and if myopia is found, you should take measures to intervene and treat him/her as soon as possible. 1, often squint when looking at things: myopia patients often squint when looking at things, this is because squinting when the eyelids can block part of the pupil, to achieve the pinhole effect, so you can temporarily improve and improve vision. 2. Eyes close together when looking at things: When your child is always close to objects when looking at things, and often complains about the low light in the room when reading and writing, consider that your child may have myopia. 3, frequent blinking: blinking may be dry eyes, itchy eyes performance, but myopia is also an important reason for frequent blinking, so to a certain extent can relieve myopia and enhance vision. 4, often rubbing the eyes: eyes with myopia and want to see objects will lead to more obvious eye soreness discomfort, often rubbing the eyes with your hands can relieve the symptoms, in order to be able to see objects better. 5, tilted head to see things: Some children with early myopia often tilt their heads to see objects, the purpose is to reduce the distortion caused by myopia to see things, to promote the formation of clear imaging on the retina. 6, often pull the corner of the eye: pull the corner of the eye to the outside, but also to achieve the same purpose as the crooked head, squinting, so that the object imaging clear. 7, often frown: this is the habit of many myopic children. This is their practice to relieve fatigue and improve vision. 8, squinting to see things: In addition to eye squinting due to visual imbalance, myopic children squint to form an effective binocular monocular function and promote clear imaging. 9. Frequent misidentification of people or objects: This condition is inconsistent with usual habits, and even tripping over things or bruising. For many parents complaining about the “unreliable school inspection”, I have visited several schools and really experienced – we have wronged the school. Here I will tell you the reason for this. 1, students are afraid of criticism, trying to guess: some students are afraid of teacher and parental criticism, they guess the visual acuity table during the inspection, and now the visual acuity table code is only a few, the accuracy of the guess is not low. 2.Students recite the visual acuity table in order to perform: I have seen a child who directly recites each of the visual acuity table from 0.5 and above during the examination. 3, the amount of school physical examinations are relatively large, the students exclude the examination, some students to tell the righteousness or in order to show that their vision is better, in the back one by one to read out, so that the examination of the vision of the students were good up. 4, it is true that there are also schools where the visual acuity table is posted on the wall, there is no background light, resulting in errors in detection, but this should have improved in recent years. Finally, I say again, the prevention and control of myopia in children depends on everyone, and it is recommended to have two hours of outdoor activity every day and to go to the hospital twice a year for a more standardized examination.
