Patients with tuberculosis who develop fever while taking anti-tuberculosis drugs need to have the cause clarified before further treatment. The common cause is fever caused by the tuberculosis disease itself. In this case, the patient should continue to take anti-tuberculosis drugs regularly, and the fever can be gradually relieved after the body’s blood concentration reaches a stable level. If the fever develops during this period, the patient can be treated according to the degree of fever, for example, if the fever is mainly low to moderate, the patient can be treated by physical cooling. If the patient has a high fever or even a super high fever, antipyretic and analgesic drugs can be used to reduce the fever, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen and so on. However, if it is clear through examination that the fever is caused by a combination of general bacterial infections, the patient should be given anti-tuberculosis treatment and symptomatic treatment to reduce the fever, in addition to effective antibiotics for anti-infection treatment, in order to relieve the fever. If the fever is caused by anti-tuberculosis drugs, adrenocorticotropic hormone treatment may be required. If there is no improvement or even liver damage, anti-tuberculosis drugs may need to be temporarily stopped.
