Choking sensation in the throat and hiccups

A choking sensation and hiccups in the throat may be clinically considered to be pharyngitis associated with reflux esophagitis or reflux gastritis. This condition may be related to the patient’s stomach contents, stomach acid and other digestive enzymes entering the pharynx through the esophagus, resulting in inflammation of the mucous membrane in the throat and a choking sensation in the throat. If there is no obvious organic lesion in the throat, patients are advised to go to the gastroenterology department to have the esophagus and stomach examined. For patients with reflux gastritis and esophagitis, the main clinical application of acid-suppressing drugs for symptomatic treatment, the course of treatment is usually about 2 months, it is recommended that patients eat a light diet, eat half full, avoid strenuous activities after meals, avoid eating and drinking for 4 hours before going to bed at night, and sleep at night with a pillow that is properly padded.
