Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Shui is a proprietary Chinese medicine made from Cang Zhu, Chen Pi, Hou Pu (made of ginger), Bai Zhi, Fu Ling, Da Gui Pi, Sheng Han Xia, Licorice infusion, Patchouli oil, and Perilla leaf oil using ethanol as solvent. Visible in appearance as a dark brown clarified liquid (slightly precipitated by storage), with a pungent and bitter taste and a final ethanol content of 40% to 50% [1]. The main efficacy of Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Shui is to remove dampness from the surface, regulate Qi and harmonize the middle. It is mainly used clinically for colds caused by external wind and cold, internal dampness and stagnation or summer heat and dampness, with symptoms such as headache and faintness, chest and diaphragm stuffiness, abdominal distension and pain, vomiting and diarrhea; and gastrointestinal colds with the above symptoms. As Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Shui is a Chinese medicine preparation, it should be used by Chinese medicine practitioner to avoid discomfort due to inconsistent symptoms. Because Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Shui contains 40% to 50% ethanol, it is prohibited for those who are allergic to this product and alcohol, and it should be used with caution for those who are allergic; after taking the medicine, you should not drive machines, vehicles, boats, engage in high-altitude work, mechanical work and operate precision instruments; you should not combine it with some antibacterial drugs containing special groups, such as cefoperazone and ceftriaxone, to avoid disulfiram-like adverse reactions.
