High pressure and normal low pressure is a common clinical condition in known as simple systolic hypertension. This is the most common type of hypertension among elderly patients, accounting for about 50% of hypertensive patients in China. In elderly patients, arterial vascular sclerosis and reduced elasticity lead to a decrease in the buffering function of the vessel wall and impaired vascular retraction during the diastolic phase of the heart, which results in normal low pressure and elevated high pressure. Systolic hypertension alone and coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke, a series of cardiovascular diseases are more closely related and should be intervened by timely therapeutic means. It is important to note that there is no drug that is specifically used to lower high pressure, or specifically used to lower low pressure.
