Sputum in the throat does not necessarily mean that you have a novel pneumonia infection. The clinical manifestations of novel coronavirus infection in humans vary due to individual differences. Current case data show that most patients mainly present with fever, malaise, dry cough and progressive dyspnea. However, a small number of patients present with only mild discomfort or atypical manifestations such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, and panic. Therefore, the presence of cough and sputum alone does not determine whether a novel coronavirus infection is present, and pathogenic testing is required to confirm the diagnosis.
