Early diabetes is usually not self-curable, but can be treated by controlling diet and moderate exercise to keep blood glucose within the normal range, and is recommended to be treated under the guidance of a doctor. Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by chronic hyperglycemia caused by multiple etiologies and is due to defective insulin secretion and/or action. Because of the abnormalities in the functioning of the pancreatic islets, the disease is usually not self-limiting. Patients need to be treated aggressively, along with dietary improvements, to keep their blood glucose within the target range. Treatment includes oral medications such as metformin and glimepiride, or insulin injections. Surgical options such as pancreas transplantation and islet cell transplantation are also available when necessary. A balanced diet with diversified food choices and reasonable nutrition is also needed in daily life. It is recommended that diabetic patients go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to avoid delaying their condition.
