Is stomach pain a symptom of pneumonia?

Pain in the abdomen is rarely a symptom of pneumonia. In rare cases of pneumonia, especially in the lower lungs bilaterally, the inflammatory response may cause pain in the left and right quadrant ribs when the pleura is irritated. When this occurs, it is important to carefully examine the body and, if necessary, to perform bilateral lung CT to further investigate the cause of the pain in the quadrant. Patients with pneumonia often present with respiratory symptoms, including cough, fever, and even coughing up sputum. Therefore, to identify whether the abdominal pain is entirely caused by pneumonia, it is important to rely on bilateral lung CT, but also to conduct a detailed examination of the patient’s medical history as well as physical signs.
