Liver fibrosis disturbs the microstructure of the liver and makes the liver function abnormally. Patients with liver fibrosis may show symptoms such as loss of appetite, aversion to grease and fatigue. The primary cause of liver fibrosis, if it causes changes in the size and shape of the liver and pulls on the outer layer of the liver envelope, can also cause uncomfortable symptoms such as swelling or pain in the liver, which can seriously affect work and life.
If the primary disease and liver fibrosis are not effectively treated, patients may also progress to cirrhosis and even further develop into liver failure or liver cancer, with a poor prognosis.
