How myopia correction surgery is done

There are two main surgical methods for myopia treatment, and the principles of surgery are not quite the same. The first one, corneal refractive surgery, includes excimer laser surgery or femtosecond laser surgery. The principle is that the stromal layer of the cornea is cut by means of excimer laser or femtosecond laser, thus changing the radius of curvature of the cornea to correct the refractive error. This surgery was one of the first surgical methods used to treat myopia, so it is still used more often. The second type, intraocular refractive surgery, includes IOL implantation or lens replacement for crystalline eyes. The principle is to reimplant an IOL in the eye to change the refractive state of the eye, thus correcting myopia. Both of these surgical methods can be used for myopia treatment.
