To describe a mitral stenosis murmur, it is important to classify it from the following aspects: First, it is its location, which generally refers to the apical region, below our nipple, between the fifth ribs. Second, the characteristics of auscultation, generally in the middle and late diastolic phase, can appear like a rumbling murmur like a machine, this murmur is generated by the blood in the left atrium from the mitral valve, through a relatively narrow orifice, running into the left ventricle. Usually, this patient can also have a systolic murmur in combination. Because mitral stenosis is often combined with mitral valve insufficiency, so there can be both systolic and diastolic murmurs. Overall, mitral stenosis murmurs are relatively more difficult to auscultate than mitral insufficiency, but they are not particularly complicated for a skilled person.
