UV disinfected disposable masks cannot be reused. The most important thing in the mask is the filter layer, disposable masks mainly contain polypropylene meltblown material, which is an ultra-fine, and electrostatic fiber cloth, after the virus reaches this layer of fiber cloth, it will be adsorbed to the short fiber, thus reducing the risk of infection. If the mask is exposed to UV light, the polypropylene meltblown material structure will be damaged, i.e., it will be oxidized and degraded, and the filtration performance will be significantly reduced. Therefore, masks should not be disinfected with UV light. When masks are in short supply, individuals may consider using them for a longer period of time without breakage and contamination, but do not do special treatment.
