Can damaged stratum corneum never heal itself?

  Patients with damaged stratum corneum can generally heal on their own with routine care if the symptoms are mild. However, if the condition is more severe and the area of damage is larger, it is difficult to heal on its own and requires relevant treatment at a hospital.  Damage to the stratum corneum is usually caused by excessive cleaning, allergies, eczema, dermatitis, improper protection, etc. It is usually accompanied by dryness, tightness, burning and itching sensation of the skin. Some patients have mild symptoms and only a small area of damage, which can usually heal on its own by stopping the use of cosmetics and taking proper care of the skin. However, some patients with more severe damage, or secondary fungal infections, etc., need to go to a regular hospital dermatology department, under the guidance of doctors for related treatment, can generally gradually recover, the prognosis is better.  Patients with damaged stratum corneum should avoid excessive washing, use less cosmetics, pay attention to sun protection, and also eat collagen-rich foods such as pig’s feet and soybeans.
