If the patient’s blood pressure is usually around 160/100mmHg and there are no other symptoms, the condition is not serious; if the elevated blood pressure is caused by an acute myocardial infarction or aortic coarct, the condition is more serious. Hypertension, also known as elevated blood pressure, is a phenomenon in which the pressure on the walls of the blood vessels is continuously higher than normal as the blood flows through the vessels. The higher-than-normal pressure on the walls of blood vessels over time can lead to serious diseases such as coronary heart disease and strokes. According to the level of elevated blood pressure, blood pressure can be classified as hypertension level I: systolic 140-159 mmHg, diastolic 90-99 mmHg; level II: systolic 160-179 mmHg, diastolic 100-109 mmHg; level III means higher than 180/110 mmHg. Therefore, the patient belongs to level II hypertension. If the patient has headache, dizziness, chest discomfort and numbness in the extremities, it is recommended to seek medical treatment promptly. The dietary principles of hypertension are high vitamin, high fiber, high calcium, low fat, low cholesterol, low salt diet; more high quality protein, calcium and potassium supplement, more fruits and vegetables.
