How many days does it take to recover from otitis media caused by a cold?

Otitis media caused by a cold is called secretory otitis media, and patients can gradually return to normal after 7-10 days of infusion treatment. Acute secretory otitis media is a non-purulent inflammatory disease caused by fluid accumulation in the middle ear, mainly hearing loss and ear stuffiness, and is a common clinical condition that occurs after a cold. In children, secondary infections are likely to occur because of the wide and short pharyngeal bullae. Under otoscopic examination, the tympanic membrane is seen to be congested and swollen, with diffuse inflammation and fluid accumulation in the middle ear. Clinical treatment is aimed at treating the cause, removing middle ear fluid and improving middle ear ventilation and drainage, and providing anti-infective treatment. Patients are advised to take rest, avoid straining and staying up late, drink more water, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and take sufficient vitamins to promote recovery from the cold.
