Timeline for healing of T12 thoracic spine fracture

The healing time for a T12 thoracic fracture is about 3 months, and after 3 months all are able to achieve bony healing, that is, a more solid healing. However, systematic treatment as well as rehabilitation should be performed during the 3-month recovery period. In case of mild compression fracture, i.e., the compression of the fracture does not exceed 1/3 of the vertebral body, simple bed rest with a pillow behind the thoracic spine or simple external fixation and proper nutrition will help to reset the compressed vertebral body. If a burst fracture occurs in the thoracic 12 vertebrae, surgical internal fixation is usually taken to restore the normal function of the vertebrae. About 6 weeks after surgery, you can sit up, you can wear a lumbar girth to move down, you can perform functional exercises with support method while lying down to increase the strength of the muscles of the low back, and gradually increase the time, strength and range of activities and exercises, and you can recover in about 3-6 months’ time. If there are systemic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and severe malnutrition, the fracture healing time may be prolonged.
