Elderly people with high blood pressure often have cerebrovascular accidents in the bath, in fact, the problem does not lie in the bath itself, but due to the improper method of bathing. Therefore, hypertensive elderly bathing should pay attention to the following six points: 1, avoid fasting bathing because the body will consume a lot of calories in the bathing process, the elderly glycogen stores less than in youth, prone to hypoglycemic shock due to low blood sugar. 2, avoid the water temperature is too high Many people like to use very hot water bath, thinking that this can avoid getting cold. In fact, when people enter the hot water at once, will reflexively cause a sudden increase in heart rate, blood pressure in a short period of time, but then soon due to the expansion of the whole body skin and subcutaneous blood vessels, blood pressure will gradually drop or even lower than the level before the bath, and a large amount of blood stagnation in the peripheral vasculature, so that the brain and heart and other important organs of the blood supply is reduced. This change in blood distribution can cause a significant rise and fall in blood pressure, which is extremely dangerous for patients with hypertension or other cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. At the same time, if the water temperature is above 40 degrees, because it exceeds the body’s temperature, so that heat is not easily distributed, but also prone to deficiency. Generally speaking, the bath water temperature to the human body temperature similar to the best. 3, avoid the bathroom and change of clothes where the temperature is too low before and after the bath due to the cold, will cause vasoconstriction, resulting in increased blood pressure. And after the bath, as described earlier, will cause blood pressure to lower. Such a drop in ambient temperature, so that the blood pressure suddenly rise and fall, increasing the chances of accidents in patients with hypertension. 4, avoid the long bubble in the water If the long bubble in the water, skin capillary dilation, easy to cause temporary ischemia of the brain, in serious cases can faint. With hypertension, atherosclerosis of the elderly, in hot water for a long time, there is a risk of inducing a stroke. Bath time is best to control within half an hour, after the bath should also rest for about half an hour. 5, avoid bathing immediately after a full meal If you take a bath immediately after a meal, it will be due to the rise in temperature, the stimulation of heat, so that the skin vasodilation, the relative reduction of blood in the gastrointestinal tract, thus hindering the digestion and absorption of food. It is recommended that it is better to take a bath one hour after the meal. 6, avoid locking the door hypertensive elderly bathing, do not lock the bathroom door, bathing is best when there is someone at home, once the problem can ask for help in time.
