Symptoms of aspiration pneumonia in infants

Aspiration pneumonia in infants includes amniotic fluid, meconium aspiration pneumonia and lactation aspiration pneumonia. The first two conditions occur mainly before and during the birth of the child. The fetus may inhale amniotic fluid and meconium due to the lack of oxygen in the womb, and meconium aspiration pneumonia is caused by the inappropriate inhalation of breast milk during breastfeeding. The symptoms of aspiration pneumonia in infants are mainly symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection and can be accompanied by hypothermia, hyperthermia, shallow breathing, nodding breathing, foaming at the mouth, failure to eat, and other symptoms that can lead to respiratory failure in severe cases. 1. The main manifestations are fever, cough and wheezing, which usually develop several days after the upper respiratory tract infection. The first symptom seen is fever or cough, body temperature is generally 38-39℃, and small infants with weak body may not have fever or even body temperature below normal. 2. There will be coughing, choking or milk spillage from the nose. 3. Children generally have symptoms such as loss of appetite, poor spirits or irritable crying and restless sleep. 4.Sick children may also have vomiting, bloating, diarrhea and other digestive symptoms. 5. Severely ill children may have symptoms of respiratory distress such as increased respiratory rate, flapping of the nose, greening around the mouth, and even respiratory failure and heart failure. For some children with aspiration pneumonia who have mild symptoms or basically no symptoms, they will generally heal themselves with careful care, but if the above symptoms appear, parents need to take their children to the hospital for treatment in a timely manner and should not take it lightly.
