Acetaminophen suppositories can be used for how many degrees of fever

Acetaminophen suppositories are often used for fever caused by common cold or influenza in children, but they should not be abused blindly and are generally recommended when the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃. If the body temperature does not exceed 38.5℃, physical cooling methods are generally used to reduce fever, such as cold compresses on the forehead or alcohol baths, etc. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, medication can be chosen. First of all, acetaminophen suppositories belong to the antipyretic and analgesic class of drugs, which have the effect of reducing fever and can be used as an antipyretic, but if the fever does not exceed 38.5 degrees, it is recommended not to use acetaminophen suppositories. Although acetaminophen suppositories can effectively reduce fever, but there is a certain degree of hepatic and renal toxicity, generally can not be used for more than three consecutive days. Secondly, acetaminophen suppositories are used clinically more for analgesia and are not the main antipyretic drug, and if used in excess, they may lead to lower blood white blood cell counts and damage to liver and kidney function, causing adverse effects on the body. It should be noted that if the body temperature does not exceed 38.5°C, but other symptoms such as convulsions appear, you should promptly go to the hospital and take the medication for symptomatic treatment according to the doctor’s instructions. Fever is a response of the body’s defense mechanism and a warning sign. When a fever appears, do not rush to use drugs and blindly reduce the fever, you can first drink more water and use physical methods to cool down the fever, and if it is ineffective or persistently high, oral antipyretics can be given. In addition, the cause of the fever should be further identified so that the cause can be treated.
