Benign brain tumors can be treated surgically or non-surgically depending on the condition. There are many types of benign brain tumors, mainly meningiomas, pituitary tumors, craniopharyngiomas, acoustic neuromas, chordomas, epidermoid cysts and dermoid cysts. 1. Meningioma: usually benign tumors, when symptoms such as high cranial pressure (headache, vomiting, etc.) and epilepsy occur, they should be surgically removed and most of them can be cured. Occasional asymptomatic meningiomas may not be operated for the time being, and regular follow-up is enough, sometimes the tumor will stop growing. 2. Pituitary tumor: Pituitary tumors without function and compression symptoms can be observed and followed up regularly. Surgery is the main treatment for symptomatic pituitary tumors, and bromocriptine is the first choice for prolactin cell adenoma, which can reduce the size of the tumor. If the patient cannot have surgery, radiation therapy can also be used. 3. Craniopharyngioma: Surgical resection is the most common treatment, and radiation therapy is also used after surgery. 4. Auditory neuroma: also known as vestibular nerve Schwann cell tumor, most of the early symptoms such as hearing loss, tinnitus and balance disorder. If the tumor is small or the patient is old, regular follow-up can be chosen. If the tumor is large or growing fast, total resection should be pursued. If it is difficult to remove all the tumor, radiation therapy can be used. 5. Chordoma: Surgery and radiation therapy can inhibit tumor growth, but its local recurrence rate is very high. 6. Epidermoid cysts and dermoid cysts: they are primary benign tumors, most patients do not need treatment, and a few need surgery. There are many kinds of benign tumors in the brain, patients should go to regular hospitals to choose appropriate treatment according to the pathology of the tumor.
