What’s wrong with the bruises on your legs?

Bruises on the legs may be caused by physiological reasons or by pathologic reasons such as compressed veins and deep vein thrombosis.
1. Physiological causes:
It may be caused by prolonged standing, weight bearing, walking and so on. When the patient’s leg skin is thin, its veins may have temporary expansion, thus the veins show up and the phenomenon of bruises on the legs is visible. It can be recovered after proper rest.
2. Pathologic causes:
(1) Compression of veins: deep veins are compressed by tumors or iliac arteries, which can also lead to the obstacle of blood reflux, resulting in venous hypertension and causing bruises on the legs.
(2) Deep vein thrombosis: when the blood return from deep veins is impaired, the blood will return through superficial veins, which will make the superficial veins more obvious, i.e., bruises on the legs.
If the veins on the legs are more obvious and cannot be relieved after proper rest, and accompanied by swelling and pain and other uncomfortable symptoms, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time and follow the doctor’s instructions to avoid delaying the condition.
