How to treat hydronephrosis

Hydronephrosis is a disease in which the drainage of urine from the renal pelvis is obstructed and when it accumulates, it leads to an increase in intra-renal pressure, thus causing dilatation of the renal pelvis and calyces and atrophy of the renal parenchyma. It is often caused by obstruction of the urinary tract, and usually needs to be treated by surgical treatment according to the cause of the disease.
For patients with congenital pelvic ureteral stenosis, dissecting plasty can be considered to relieve hydronephrosis. For urinary stones, extracorporeal lithotripsy or endoscopic lithotripsy should be performed.
For hydronephrosis caused by obstruction such as inflammatory stenosis of the ureter that is difficult to repair, or compression or invasion by advanced tumors, cystoscopic placement of double-J tubes for long-term internal drainage of renal pelvic urine can be performed to protect renal function.
For patients with more severe cases of hydronephrosis, the renal parenchyma is obviously destroyed and atrophy occurs, causing renal hypertension or combined with severe infection, when the kidney function is severely lost, if the opposite side of the kidney function is normal, resection of the damaged kidney can be considered if necessary.
It is recommended that patients with hydronephrosis, timely medical treatment, follow the doctor’s instructions to improve the relevant examinations, and actively cooperate with the doctor to standardize the treatment after clarifying the cause of the disease.
