The main treatments for type I neurofibromatosis include medication, surgery, radiation therapy and so on.
1. Drug therapy: for patients with unbearable pain, analgesic drugs such as diclofenac sodium and ibuprofen can be used as prescribed by doctors. For patients with epilepsy, antiepileptic drugs, such as phenytoin sodium, carbamazepine, etc., can be used as prescribed by doctors.
2. Surgery: Surgery is the main treatment of neurofibromatosis, for the rapid growth of neurofibromas in limbs and trunk and oppression of neighboring tissues, it can be removed by surgery.
3. Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy is mainly applied to patients who cannot tolerate surgery. The treatment can stop the growth of tumor, but it cannot shrink the tumor.
