Difference between boils and folliculitis

The difference between boils, or boils, and folliculitis includes causes, symptoms, and treatment modalities.
1. Causes: Boils are most often associated with Staphylococcus aureus infections, while folliculitis may be associated with Staphylococcus aureus, Malassezia furfur, and other bacterial infections.
2. Symptoms: boils begin as follicular inflammatory papules and develop into hard nodules, often accompanied by redness, swelling, heat and pain, followed by the appearance of yellowish-white pus; folliculitis is mainly characterized by red papules or pustules centered on hair follicles.
3. Treatment: If the boil is not suppurated in the early stage, you can use iodine tincture, ichthyol ointment and other drugs, if the lesions are large patients can take oral cephalosporin, cefixime and other antibiotic drugs to reduce inflammation and sterilization; bacterial folliculitis can be used externally with erythromycin, clindamycin and other antibiotic drugs, fungal folliculitis can be used externally with miconazole, econazole and other anti-fungal drugs, to promote the recovery.
