Difference between Zhibai Di Huang Wan and Xuanmai Ganjie Granules

There are differences between Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan and Xuan Mai Gan Kuang Granules in terms of composition, efficacy and main treatment.
1. Difference in composition and efficacy: Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan is composed of Zhi Mu, Ze Di, Shu Di Huang, Mudan Pi, Poria, yam, Huang Bai, etc., and its efficacy is to nourish yin and reduce fire. Xuanmai Ganlang Granules are composed of Platycodon grandiflorus, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Ophiopogonis, and Ophiopogonis, with the effect of clearing away heat and nourishing the yin, and expelling phlegm and facilitating the throat.
2. Difference in treatment: Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan is used to treat dry mouth, thirst, sore throat, hot flashes and night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep and stopping sweating after waking up), tinnitus and spermatorrhea, and short and red urination (small amount of urination, dark yellow color) caused by yin deficiency and fire exuberance. Xuanmai Ganlang Granules are used to treat dryness of mouth and nose, sore throat caused by yin deficiency and fire exuberance.
The adverse reactions and contraindications of Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan and Xuan Mai Gan Kuang Granules are not clear. Avoid indigestible food while taking Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan. It should not be taken by patients with fever and cold. Avoid smoking, alcohol, spicy and fishy food during the period of taking Xuanmai Ganlang Granules. Diabetic patients and people with high blood pressure, heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease and other serious chronic diseases should be taken under the guidance of a physician.
