Sublingual petechiae are changes such as thick, swollen and bifurcated veins under the tongue, or blue-purple, reddish-red, reddish-violet, purple-black, or dark red or purple network of the tiny veins under the tongue, or varicose veins under the tongue, such as purple bead-like petechial nodules of varying sizes, which is a sign of blood stasis. The main reasons for the formation of sublingual petechiae are stagnation of qi and stagnation of blood; deficiency of qi and its inability to promote blood circulation and retardation; prolonged illness into the channels; and the feeling of cold and heat external evils, cold condensation, heat burns to the blood circulation is not unimpeded; phlegm and turbid obstruction in the veins, qi and blood stagnation and blockage of access, and so on. Clinical prescriptions commonly used in the treatment of blood stasis include Tao Hong Si Wu Tang, Blood Mansion Chasing Blood Stasis Tang and Tonifying Yang Returning Five Tang. Depending on the patient’s individual constitution and condition, the specific prescription should be flexibly added or subtracted according to the TCM doctor’s diagnosis and treatment, and should not be used blindly by the individual.
