Whether 3 to 4 bowel movements a day is normal or not should be judged in the light of the shape and nature of the bowel movements, the differences in individual’s physical condition and bowel habits.
In most people, the number of bowel movements is around 1 to 2 times a day, but due to differences in daily bowel habits, metabolic function of the digestive system, and also due to the influence of the day’s diet, the number of bowel movements on the same day may increase, resulting in a situation where the number of bowel movements is increased to 3 or 4 times a day.
Usually, if the number of bowel movements is maintained at 3 to 4 times a day, there is no abnormality in the nature of the stools, no dryness, watery stools, mucus, pus, blood, etc., and there is no abdominal pain, bloating or other accompanying discomfort, the bowel movement can be considered as within the range of normal bowel movements.
If the patient has bowel movements 3 to 4 times a day and is accompanied by other symptoms, he or she should go to the hospital in time to get a clear explanation of the cause of the problem and then be given targeted treatment.
