In terms of current clinical application, stem cell therapy for stroke hemiplegia has no real application and is still in the stage of research.
Stem cells are a group of primitive cells with regenerative and differentiation ability, and their application in repair and regeneration is promising.
And from the current research, the use of stem cells such as neural stem cells or mesenchymal stromal cells to treat hemiplegia in stroke has some efficacy, such as the assessment of neurological deficit scores (NIHSS), motor function FMA, daily living ability Barthel and functional independence FIM and other indexes, show results are in favor of stem cell transplantation treatment group.
However, due to the lack of more clinical randomized controlled studies, stem cells are not currently used as a routine treatment for stroke hemiplegia, and more high-quality studies are needed to exact its efficacy.
