Vitreoretinal hemorrhage is commonly identified by Chinese medicine, such as hemorrhage due to liao damage, phlegm stasis and obstruction, qi stagnation and blood stasis, spleen deficiency and blood stasis, etc. It is mainly treated by medication, as follows:
1. The evidence of hemorrhage of collaterals damage, mainly manifested as sudden decrease of visual acuity, black shadow fluttering in front of eyes, cloudy vitreous body, bright red color; the formula selects the addition and subtraction of Sheng Pu Huang Tang.
2. Phlegmatic stasis syndrome, mainly manifesting as sudden decrease in visual acuity, fluttering of black shadows in front of eyes, accumulation of blood in vitreous body; accompanied by stinging pain or distension of eyeballs, phlegm-thickness and bitterness in the mouth; the formula is Taohong Siwu Tang combining with Phlegm Cleansing Soup with additions and subtractions.
3. Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome, mainly manifesting as sudden loss of vision, fluttering black shadow in front of the eyes, vitreous blood accumulation; headache with emotional discomfort, irritability, or prolonged hemorrhage in the fundus of the eye; formula: add subtractions of Hematopoeia and Blood Stasis Tang.
4. Spleen deficiency with blood stasis, mainly manifesting as sudden decrease in visual acuity, fluttering black shadow in front of the eyes, and various forms of hemorrhage in the fundus; formula: Gui Spleen Tang plus subtractions.
