What’s going on with the water running out of the ear with no odor?

Ear flow water without odor may be outflow after the external ear canal accumulation of water, may also be related to cerebrospinal fluid ear leakage, combined with tympanic membrane perforation of the external lymphatic fistula and other diseases.
1. Fluid accumulation in the external auditory canal: during water-related activities such as hair washing, bathing and swimming, or due to water in the external auditory canal, which is not discharged in time and forms a short-term accumulation of water, when the fluid tension is weakened, the structure of the ear canal and the adhesion force is not enough to limit the retention of water, the ear may appear to flow clear water without odor.
2. Cerebrospinal fluid ear leakage: this disease is often triggered by skull base fracture, ear and side skull base surgery and trauma, purulent otitis media, advanced ear tumor, as well as certain congenital disorders of the inner ear and cranium. When there is a tympanic membrane perforation or a fracture of the bone and skin of the ear canal, a fluid from the external auditory canal is often found, which is typically colorless, clear, and without any viscous fluid and odor.
3. External lymphatic fistula: this situation can be seen in head trauma, ear surgery, “spontaneous” external lymphatic fistula and other reasons, can be combined with tympanic membrane perforation, found in the ear flow odorless water.
If there is a flow of water from the ear without odor, you need to actively seek medical attention, systematic examination, diagnosis and standardized treatment.
