What to do if your arm is numb due to cervical spine

Cervical spondylosis causing arm numbness is mainly caused by cervical disc herniation or bone spurs compressing the nerve root, which can be treated with general therapy, medication, physical therapy or surgery. 1. General treatment: patients should change the bad working position and sleeping posture, and adjust the height of the pillow. 2. Drug therapy: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and celecoxib can be used to alleviate the patient’s symptoms; nutritive drugs such as methylcobalamin can also be used to alleviate the symptoms. 3. Physical therapy: use cervical brace to protect the cervical vertebrae and limit the activities of the cervical vertebrae, or carry out cervical physiotherapy and cervical traction to reduce the compression of cervical intervertebral discs on the nerves, and improve the symptom of numbness in the arms. 4. Surgery: If conservative treatment is ineffective, patients can undergo surgery, which includes anterior decompression and fusion of cervical vertebrae, posterior decompression and so on. Patients with arm numbness caused by cervical spondylosis should go to the hospital in time to avoid further aggravation of the condition, and should not blindly use medication.
