Cow’s Knee has the effect of strengthening the muscles and bones, licorice has the effect of tonifying the spleen and benefiting the qi, and burdock has the effect of evacuating wind.
1. Cow’s Knee: has the effect of strengthening the muscles and bones, tonifying the liver and kidneys, diuretic and diaphoretic (to improve the problem of incomplete urination and small amount of urination), expelling blood stasis and clearing up the menstrual flow (to get rid of blood stasis and clear up the menstruation), and inducing the blood to flow downward (to promote the blood’s downward flow), and it is suitable for menstrual cramps, amenorrhea and toothache, etc. The adverse effect is still unclear, and pregnant women need to be cautious about its use.
2. Glycyrrhiza glabra: it can replenish the spleen and benefit the qi, relieve pain (alleviate urgent pain symptoms), clear heat and detoxify the toxin, dispel phlegm and relieve cough, and harmonize all medicines (harmonize the medicinal properties of different traditional Chinese medicines), and it is suitable for symptoms such as fatigue, weakness of the spleen and stomach, and shortness of breath, etc. Glycyrrhiza glabra is not suitable to be used with Morinda Citrifolia, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Coriandrum sativum, and seaweeds.
3. Burdock seed: has the effect of dispersing wind-heat, detoxifying the pharynx, promoting the lungs and penetrating the rash, applicable to wind-heat colds, measles and other diseases. It should be used with caution in cases of qi deficiency and loose stools (thin and unformed feces).
