Symptoms of keratitis

Typical symptoms of keratitis include eye irritation, vision loss, etc. Some types of keratitis may also show secretions, and prompt medical attention is recommended. 1. Eye irritation: mainly including photophobia, tearing, eye pain, eyelid spasm, etc. The symptoms may last until the inflammation subsides. 2. Loss of vision: In most cases, it is accompanied by different degrees of vision loss, and if the lesion is in the central optical zone, the symptoms may be more obvious. 3. Discharge: In patients with pyogenic keratitis, there is usually a pus-like discharge of varying character from the lesion. Untreated keratitis may lead to complications such as corneal perforation, iridocyclitis, secondary glaucoma, etc. Patients may experience discomfort such as eye distension, visual field loss, severe eye pain, and even blindness. When patients experience the above symptoms and suspect the presence of keratitis, they should seek prompt medical attention and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
