Can a UTI cause bleeding

UTIs do not cause bleeding in most cases, but a small number of red blood cells may be found in the urine routine. In a few cases, it can cause bleeding, and patients should seek prompt medical attention.
UTI is a common lower urinary tract infection, which is categorized as acute and chronic according to the urgency of the condition, and gonococcal and non-gonococcal according to the cause of the infection. Clinical manifestations of urinary tract irritation such as urinary frequency, urgency, and urinary pain are dominant, and may also be accompanied by urethral discharge. Urine routine is usually dominated by leukocytosis.
Clinically, mild urethritis is mostly common, which may be asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic, or only have signs of urinary tract irritation, and will not cause bleeding to produce hematuria. However, when invasive bacterial infections such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli invade the mucosa of the urethra, triggering mucosal rupture it may lead to bleeding.
Bleeding may also be caused when a severe UTI continues to travel upward to the bladder and causes cystitis. Patients should seek prompt medical attention and follow the doctor’s instructions.
