The premonitory signs before the birth of a baby are known as “labor onset”, which mainly include irregular contractions, a feeling of the fetus descending, and redness of the eyes.
Before the birth of the baby, i.e. the labor starts, there will be some symptoms of impending labor, which is called the premonitory signs of labor, mainly in the following aspects:
1. Irregular contractions: Before labor starts, due to the increased sensitivity of the uterine muscle, irregular contractions with inconsistent frequency, short duration and long intervals may occur, and the intensity of the contractions does not gradually increase without shortening of the cervical canal and dilatation of the uterine opening, which is also known as pseudo-progressing labor, and it often occurs during the night and disappears in the early morning.
2. Fetal descent: The descent of the preeclampsia and the entry of the fetus into the pelvis will lower the uterine fundus, and the pregnant woman will feel more comfortable in the upper abdomen than before. However, the pressure of the prenatal part on the bladder may cause frequent urination.
3. Seeing red: 24 to 48 hours before delivery, the placenta at the endocervix and the uterine wall at the place of separation, capillary rupture bleeding and cervical mucus mixed with pale bloody mucus discharged from the vagina, known as seeing red, is a more reliable sign of the imminent start of labor. If there is excessive vaginal bleeding, pathologic conditions such as placenta praevia and placental abruption should be excluded.
In the above cases, the mother should closely observe the uterine contractions and vaginal bleeding so that she can seek medical treatment and be hospitalized in time for delivery.
