Herbal formula for macular edema

Chinese medicine treatment of macular edema is categorized into damp-heat syndrome, spleen deficiency and dampness syndrome, phlegm stasis and stagnation syndrome according to the different symptoms shown by the patients, and the traditional Chinese medicine formulas used in the treatment are also different. 1. Damp-heat internal obstruction syndrome: Consciousness of hazy vision, oedema and exudation in the macula can be seen in the fundus of the eye, and the light reflex of the center concave is diffuse. The head is heavy and the chest is stuffy, there is little food and bitterness in the mouth, the urine is yellow, the tongue is yellow and greasy, and the pulse is numb or slippery. The prescription can be San Ren Tang combined with Wen Bile Tang plus subtractions, which can benefit dampness and clear heat, dispel phlegm and resolve turbidity. 2. Spleen deficiency and dampness: blurred vision, dark shadows in front of the eyes, macular edema. There is also chest tightness and dullness (no appetite, reduced food intake), low food intake, loose stools (thin and unshaped feces), pale tongue, thin white tongue coating, and weak or moistened pulse. The formula can be Wu Ling San combined with Liu Jun Zi Tang plus subtractions, which can strengthen the spleen and seep away dampness, benefit qi and brighten the eyes. 3. Phlegm stasis and stagnation syndrome: manifested as blurred vision, prolonged illness, macular edema in the fundus, fusion of exudate difficult to eliminate, pigmentation disorders. There is also sticky mouth, loss of appetite, or obesity, petechiae or ecchymosis on the tongue, yellow and thick tongue coating, and slippery or astringent pulse. The formula can be Tao Hong Si Wu Tang combined with Wen Gao Tang plus reduction, which can activate blood circulation, eliminate stasis, dissolve phlegm and disperse knots.
